Mix one Yamaha Gt80 enduro bike, one 1979 ford rear axle, one 7.5 horsepower engine, one Ebay CVT transmission,a bunch of square tubing and a full roll of welding wire. Let the suicide trike take shape.

That is a great bad idea.

What makes it worse is the motorcycle front end has a valid serial number so I can register it as street legal. It was a road-legal bike when it was sold new.

This is amazing. How is the seat going to be mounted...or is this going to be a trike where you stand on?

Hopefully it will be too slow for you to die on it.

I always wondered about the first step to creating immobile lawn art.
This one has been sitting in the same spot for at least 9 years. I think it’s based on a bug, but without an engine in it, I can’t tell.

This is an awesome idea. Based on how long, and how wide it is though it should be pretty stable.

I see nothing but win here. Full win in fact.

Roughly where it was on the bike, just lower. I don’t really build this stuff myself, I just attach metal together in the direction it wants to go.

Yeah pretty sure that’s a bug based unit. I’ve also been considering one of those.

This is what makes it great, and gives me ideas about what to do with my ‘72 KE175 if I can’t unsieze the top end.

I’m probably going to end up gearing it so it reaches about 60 km/hr so I can drive it around town and still have enough launch left over for the one stoplight.

The Surgeon General has determined following the HoneyBadger’s ideas are most likely hazardous to your health.

Although I’m hoarding a little tiny 14 tooth driven sprocket with hopes of reaching the highway speed limit. Probably not enough power.

Hahaha! I’d say not. That isn’t exactly going to be a light-weight machine.

oddly enough, i had that idea a while back........ i was thinking of putting together a small go-cart. i was going to narrow a 9 inch.......... basically cut off the tubes, and weld the bearing cups, and brake plates back(cut the same off of the axle). then find some wide wheels to throw on it, was going to put some 20" bike tires on the front. had planned to mount the engine (old 3 horse briggs) to the diff........... was thinking about a 50 gallon barrel for the body....... im still in the parts round up phase, so ill be intently watching..........
that thing you got there............looks SAFE to me........... best of luck.........

Good eye. Same make/model axle, different parts truck. I’ve got lots of parts.

See, that whole planning thing just costs me time. Sometimes you just gotta fire up the death wheel and cut away.

extra parts are nice to have........ there for a little bit i thought you were robbing off the “convertible”, and i was thinking........ “never gonna get it finished like this.....”....... looks like a real fun project........

yeah, i hear you on the planning........... but for me......... its easier to do the job once, and have it work right, than mangle it a few times, and make a muddled mess......... your results may vary...........
looks like a nice, fun, low stress project.........

Can’t be any worse than mountain biking. The bruises and scars are accumulating, but no fractures to speak of, though it’s certainly not for lack of trying.

I did something similar when I was in high school.
Chopped the front half of a 70s dirt bike off, hooked it up with the mechanical parts of the rear half of a lawn mower, stuck an 8hp engine and a 3 speed transaxle in it (with the pulley swapped for more speed), and figured out some controls for it.
It was the best thing I’ve ever driven. Nothing else gave me as much pride in my work than driving a vehicle that was built my my own hands. Even if it was a bit slow and impossible for anyone but me to drive.
